When to Book Your Maldives Trip

How early should you start planning? Here's our guide to choosing your dates, resort, room type, and getting everything booked smoothly.

The Maldives is one of those trips where planning early can make a real difference. The best resorts and the most popular room types can fill up quickly, especially between November and April. Here is how we normally approach a Maldives booking.

1. Start With Your Dates

We'll first look at when you want to travel and how flexible your dates are.

For travel between November and April, we recommend starting the conversation around three to six months ahead, where possible. This gives us more choice when it comes to resorts, room types, and flight options.

If you're travelling between May and October, there is usually more flexibility, and we can often find better rates because it's low season.

2. Tell Us What Kind Of Stay You Want

Not every Maldives trip needs an overwater villa.

We'll help you choose between beach villas, overwater villas, a combination of both, family friendly resorts, adults focused or adults only stays and resorts, resorts with strong diving and water activities, or resorts that are better for simply switching off.

Your budget, travel style, and the kind of experience you want will guide the recommendation.

3. We Check The Options

Once we have your dates and preferences, we'll compare suitable resorts and room categories rather than simply sending you a list of hotels.

We'll look at all the things that can make a big difference to the total cost, including meal plans, transfers, room type, and what is actually included in the stay.

4. We Confirm The Resort

Once you choose your preferred option, we'll confirm availability and secure the booking according to the resort's payment and cancellation terms.

For some resorts, the transfer from Male is an important part of the booking. Depending on the island, this may be by speedboat or seaplane, so we'll coordinate this alongside your accommodation.

5. Then We Build The Rest Of The Trip

Once your stay and your flight are confirmed, we'll add the details around it: airport transfers, excursions, diving, spa treatments, dinner, and any special requests.

This means that you're not trying to organise everything at once. We secure the important parts first, then build the experience around them.

A Rough Timeline

Two to six months before: Ideal for peak season travel. We start looking at resorts, flights, and room categories.

One to three months before: Still a good window, particularly if your dates are flexible.

Under one month: We can still work with it. The main difference is that there may be fewer resorts and room options available, particularly around Christmas, New Year, and other busy periods, and flight rates might be more expensive.

What We Need From You

To get started, we'd ask for:

You don't have to have everything figured out before speaking to us. That's what we are here for.

What Happens After You Book?

Once your trip is confirmed, we'll keep the important details organised for you, from flights to accommodation and transfers to activities and travel documents.

Closer to departure, we'll make sure you have the information you need for each part of the journey, so you can focus on looking forward to the Maldives rather than managing the logistics.
