How to Plan a Kenya Trip That Has It All

Safari, giraffes, Nairobi, Mombasa, and the experiences worth adding to your itinerary. Here's how we'd put the trip together.

Kenya can be more than just a safari.

For a first trip, we like to combine a few different sides of the country, Nairobi for the city and experiences, a safari for the wildlife, and Mombasa for a few slower days by the coast.

Here's how we normally put it together.

1. Start With Nairobi

Nairobi is usually where the trip begins, and there's actually quite a lot to do before heading out for safari.

Depending on your interests, we can include the Giraffe Centre, Nairobi National Museum, local restaurants, shopping, and other city experiences.

It gives you a chance to experience Nairobi before leaving the city behind.

2. Add The Safari

This is usually the part people are most excited about.

We'll recommend the right safari experience based on your budget, how many nights you have, and what you want to see.

You could keep it simple with a shorter safari or spend a few more nights in the bush for a more immersive experience.

3. Finish In Mombasa

After a few days of early mornings and game drives, adding Mombasa gives the trip a completely different pace.

Think beaches, warm weather, Swahili culture, seafood, and slow afternoons by the coast.

It's an easy way to turn a safari trip into a proper holiday.

4. Add The Experiences You Actually Want

Not everyone wants the same Kenya itinerary.

Some travellers want more wildlife. Others want beaches, food, shopping, photography, or activities around Nairobi.

We'll build the itinerary around what you actually want to do rather than filling your days just because we can.

A Rough Itinerary

Days 1 to 3: Nairobi, city experiences, Giraffe Centre, dining and exploring.

Days 4 to 6: Safari, game drives, wildlife and time outside the city.

Days 7 to 10: Mombasa, beaches, culture, food and a slower finish.

This can easily be shortened or extended depending on your budget and how much time you have.

What We Need From You

To get started, we'd ask for:

You don't need to know exactly where you want to go. Tell us what kind of trip you want, and we'll build it from there.
